Urgent Email Action: Urge Michael J. Fox Foundation to Stop Funding Monkey Torture

Within days, Eleventh Hour for Animals will release the shocking details of the monkey torture at UF that is exclusively being funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation. At this moment, they are considering funding even more of these atrocities and we must urge them to sever ties with UF before more monkeys succumb.

Please compose your own letter or use the sample provided and email the Michael J. Fox Foundation today.

Exposing UF Animal Records in Layman’s Terms

Just starting ….but I can’t bring myself to move on to the actual records just yet. My guy, 5C126, has lab tests and other documentation of the atrocities he endured before he went to the University of Florida. It’s not our main goal to find out more about the monkeys before they arrived at UF, but I can’t ignore showing little 5C126’s suffering in his childhood years before he got to UF.

Eleventh Hour successfully puts UF on the defensive to ring in 2014!

Karen Kline, Senior Lab Investigator for Eleventh Hour has been talking to the media all day about the systemic culture of corruption and incompetence inside UF behind which their animal torture industry is hidden from the public. Please read this interview in the Gainesville Sun; all comments appreciated: Animal Rights group files complaint against UF. For those of you in Gainesville, be sure to watch her feature on TV20 this evening. And now that we’ve forced the University of Florida to pull out their last defense — federal regulations that insure “humane” vivisection regimens — we are about to divest them of this final instrument of propaganda…

It is worth noting that nowhere in the mainstream media (i.e., UF propaganda networks) has it been mentioned thus far that the university has remained in noncompliance with Florida law since winning our last lawsuit nor have they mentioned that we filed a THIRD LAWSUIT against them days ago. As we expected, however, about two-thirds of the Gainesville Sun article is directed at placating the taxpayers with visions of a USDA fairy that magically sprinkles Animal Welfare Act fairy dust on all the “happy” mutilated, caged, suffering and tormented animals in their labs. Well the fairy godmother of institutionalized animal torture is about to die a public and painful death!

Moments ago, with our attorney Marcy I. LaHart monitoring the situation, we filed for unredacted records documenting the dogs and horses being subj

Breaking: UF hit with third lawsuit from activists

Eleventh Hour  filed a federal complaint citing systemic incompetence among the “medical researchers” abusing primates inside the University of Florida days ago on December 24. On the heels of that indictment from activists, we filed a third lawsuit in the courts against the University of Florida for suppressing public records documenting the extent of their taxpayer-funded atrocities.

On December 26, 2013, attorney Marcy I. LaHart filed the suit on behalf of Eleventh Hour’s Karen Kline. Case No. 2013 CA 005479 has been assigned to Judge Roundtree and we are awaiting a date on the docket. Represented by Ms. LaHart, Camille Marino successfully sued UF twice and took possession of the records that underlie the federal complaint filed earlier this week. Several of our colleagues are expected to be present in Gainesville when this case is heard in 2014.

It took three years of legal battles to secure unredacted records through December 2010 of which we finally took possession in April of 2013. All further requests

Federal Complaint Cites Systemic Incompetence inside University of Florida Animal Labs

Press Release
December 24, 2013
For Immediate Release

At 8 am this morning, Eleventh Hour for Animals filed a federal complaint with the USDA citing four counts of violations of the Animal Welfare Act and alleging systemic incompetence and neglect of animals being housed inside the University of Florida. Veterinarians documented a monkey named Louis with a broken hip on July 9, 2009. Rather than address the injury or treat his pain, Louis was left to languish in agony and deteriorate as lab techs, vets, and principle investigator Stephen Roberts spent an entire year testing him for parasites. When the parasite treatments failed to resolve the issue of his broken bones, Louis was incinerated on July 9, 2010. His veterinary records chillingly note that Louis “was unable to be used.”

While this complaint calls for an immediate “high priority” investigation by the USDA, Eleventh Hour does not look to this agency for any remedy. Neither do we wish to quantify the suffering of the victims according to which torture is allowed or disallowed under the Animal Welfare Act. We do, however, wish to demonstrate the unscientific nature and sheer incompetence of those claiming to be “medical researchers” to collect approximately $400 million annually in taxpayer money to brutalize animals.  Our goal is not to appeal to the USDA but to use this federal complaint as a means of reaching the taxpayers that are being kept in the dark and defrauded.

In addition to the culture of incompetence that we have clearly documented, the

University Of North Georgia Professor Takes Stand Against University of Florida Corruption

The lucrative taxpayer-funded animal torture industry inside the University of Florida must remain hidden from public view in order to continue. Their crimes cannot stand the light of day. But the iron hand of repression with which they have attempted to silence activists, publishing prevarications in the media, infringing on constitutional rights, and wrapping themselves inside a cocoon of police state corruption has not gone unnoticed. Dr. Barry D. Friedman is now committed to exposing the culture of corruption at the University of Florida:

THE HORRORS OF ANIMAL EXPERIMENTATION IN RESEARCH LABORATORIES

I desperately need your help.  Animals are being tortured and killed in laboratories throughout the United States.  For example, egregious, heinous violations of the natural rights of monkeys are occurring at the University of Florida.  See the Web site at http://universityofflorida.us .  I have posted some appalling photographs on the Web page at http://faculty.UNG.edu/bfriedman/bfried/AnimalLab/index.html.  Before you click on that link, be aware that these photographs are horrifying to look at–so traumatic that I can’t post them on this page.  If they are horrifying to look at, imagine what it is like to experience such terror.  Please don’t let this continue.  There is no civilized human being who cannot recognize this incomprehensible savagery as being immoral.  Write to me at bfriedman@UNG.edu.

Louis’ harrowing life and death

In August of 2010, we learned about a monkey named Louis. A lab tech pleaded with UF to release him to a sanctuary and stop his suffering. While the lab tech was on vacation, Louis was murdered and incinerated on July 9, 2010. UF wanted to ensure that the world would never see his deteriorated condition or know his story. In October of 2010, NIO’s campaign against UF commenced. Now we know that Louis was allowed to languish in torment with a broken hip and never given any pain relief. His records document callous neglect, violations of the law, and incompetence. In death, Louis has a voice.

Bucky’s “strictly regulated” torment inside the University of Florida

Bucky’s Story

Bucky is a capuchin monkey who has remained a captive Vivisector Raymond J. Bergeron since 1999. As the records attached below demonstrate, Bucky’s existence is now one of nightmarish deprivation, self-mutilation, misery and pain. Blood is repeatedly found in his cage, he is self-mutilating, vocalizing, and his hair pulling leaves bald spots. He is agitated and aggressive, exhibiting “stereotypical” pacing, biting of bars, tail holding, as well as scratching around his face and eyes. As of December 31, 2011, it appears that Bucky was still actively being driven insane.

Among the injuries documented are a gash on his left big toe, his left inner thigh was excoriated and bleeding was noted, moist wounds were observed on both knees with significant swelling, and his tail was also found lacerated. The most severe injury Bucky sustained thus far was a deep cut on his leg and knee which required surgery, after which he would open his wounds. Another laceration by his left eye is documented as either another self-mutilation or as being sustained from lab equipment, which would indicate neglect.

Our UF whistleblower offers :

“I’m sure all those injuries were due to thrashing about in his cage – exhibiting rage and hostility. These guys are in prison…”
